Lunadir and Strakadir - Rest and Dreams

Lunadir is the goddess of the night and comfort, offering soft sleep and dreamscapes. Strakadir is the god of night terror, bringing nightmare and restlessness. They are brother and sister, raised to balance one another in the ways of communicating messages most discretely to the people of Wyl in times that the gods have no reason, or can not make themselves present directly, even in secret. Together they crafted Sulrum, the realm of sleep and imagination. Over the years, Strakadir became envious of Lunadir's position and the attention she received from her followers, while resenting the disdain he himself received by all who had to endure his nightmares. In time, Strakadir departed and descended into the shadows, leaving Lunadir alone to oversee the entirety of the world of dream. Strakadir continued to send nightmares to dreamers, but now they were corrupted and obscure. No longer could dreams be as easily interpreted as messages from the gods except in certain circumstances and if a monk of Lunadir is present to translate the dream.

Followers of the paths of Lunadir are a diverse type. Ranging from knights in armor of light blues, dark blues and white accents to mimic the night sky, to monks who wear all robes and seek and inspire a life of peace. Knights of this faith will often be the first to stand guard for night watch, able to grant comfort in a passive form and ward off the wayward nightmares of Strakadir. Monks will find hymns and find remarkable insight on how to calm someone and help ensure any desired sleep. In some cases, monks and knights might be able to invoke a dream vision and help seek insight and wisdom of the gods, but they can only help invoke this in others, not for themselves.

Monks:

Adorned in dark blue hooded robes with white hemming and, on occasion, speckled with small white details. These monks have the ability to comfort people in strange and mysterious ways. They can grant peace of mind and melt away stress, they can also fill a person's mind with melatonin. The process of sleeping with the aid of a Monk will bring healing and mental stability. Monks can help guide and influence dreams into a particular direction, and on occasion should Lunadir allow, can join someone within their dreams.

Knights:

Guardians of the most peaceful nature, these knights focus on encouraging pacifism and only acting in the defense of others. These knights learn to tell stories of grand heroes either of history or of fantasy. These stories invigorate people's dreams and encourage them, granting them a well rested and highly enthusiastic wake after their slumber. Knights can also detect whether someone's dreams have entered nightmare and can make the nature of their nightmare appear in their own minds and combat them on behalf of those they watch over in order to restore the dreamer's peace of mind.

Blessings:

The Blessings of dream and nightmares can either give or take a restful night to anyone these blessings are brought to. The only downside is these abilities have little effect on the caster, meaning the Monks and Knights must be self reliant of their own mental health.

  • Restful night. The prayer can either be written on parchment, or the caster must be present and watching over the sleeper, but those receiving this blessing will be able to sleep and gain complete rest within six hours of sleep.
  • Night of woe. The prayer can be written or the caster must be present and watching over the sleeper. Those receiving this affect have their nights taken from them and lose all rest for that night, despite how long they sleep, they will wake weary and groggy until they can sleep again.
  • Rip of the Veil. The sword of a monk or knight will create a great deal of mental distress on those receiving the hits. If the holder of the sword is trusting enough however to let someone else hold it for a few moments, the person who is allowed to hold the sword will be filled with a sense of confidence and exuberance.

Abilities:

The abilities given to a monk or knight are far more mystical in nature, being able to influence peoples dreams and even travel in a kind of incorporeal form.

  • Dreamwalking. Creating a rune allowing them to enter the dreams of others with them or bring someone into their own. The number of people they can sustain with this ability ranges from two to five depending on experience.
  • Dreamscaping. While Dreamwalking, the monk or knight can write a rune into the dream form forehead of the host of the dream (Meaning it disappears when they wake up and must be recast the next time they sleep), this rune allows the host of the dream to mold and change anything to their whims, and allow their dreamwalking guests to do the same if they can muster the concentration.
  • Rune of moonlight. When carved into a stone, the Rune of moonlight provides light wherever the holder's attention is focused within a certain range.
